A leading domestic steel manufacturer officially put into operation its newly built zero-carbon steel production line, marking a pivotal breakthrough in the company’s green low-carbon transformation and high-quality development strategy. This advanced production line adopts world-leading hydrogen-based smelting technology, completely replacing traditional coal-fired smelting processes, and can effectively eliminate carbon emissions in the steelmaking process, laying a solid foundation for the enterprise to achieve its 2035 carbon peak and 2060 carbon neutrality goals.
With a total investment of over 280 million US dollars, the new production line has an annual designed output of 800,000 tons of high-end zero-carbon steel products, covering high-strength structural steel, automotive steel and new energy equipment special steel. Compared with traditional production modes, the line reduces comprehensive carbon emissions by 92% per ton of steel, while significantly lowering sulfur and dust emissions, reaching the international ultra-low emission environmental standard. Meanwhile, the intelligent control system equipped on the line realizes full-process automated monitoring and precise parameter adjustment, effectively improving product stability and yield.
In recent years, the company has taken green development as the core of its strategic layout, continuously increasing investment in environmental protection and technological innovation. Up to now, the enterprise has completed the upgrading and renovation of 12 green production projects, built a closed-loop recycling system for water, gas and solid waste, and achieved a comprehensive resource utilization rate of over 98%. The launch of the zero-carbon steel production line further enriches the company’s green product system and enhances its core competitiveness in the global low-carbon market.
The person in charge of the company’s technology research and development department stated that green steel has become the mainstream trend of the global steel industry. In the next stage, the company will continue to deepen research and development of low-carbon and zero-carbon smelting technologies, expand the application scenarios of green steel products in new energy, transportation and construction fields, and promote the whole industry chain’s green upgrading. The enterprise will also actively cooperate with international environmental protection organizations and downstream leading enterprises to jointly formulate green steel industry standards and contribute to the global industrial carbon reduction cause.
